　　张玛莉，苏州人，生于50年代，88年获得香港十大杰出青年。酷爱绘画艺术，自幼喜爱绘画艺术，先后随大师习国画，曾于香港大学及香港中文大学修读艺术，并毕业于香港理工大学工商管理系。八十年代末期常以照相机代替画笔，足迹遍及名城古镇、名山大川，对发展中国家深表关怀，擅长捕捉世界上人和物的真、善、美……，先后随国际救援机构到贫困地区体验生活，当中包括：非洲、印度、孟加拉国、泰北、缅甸、罗马尼亚、新几内亚及中国偏远山区……等地。

 

　　在旅程中，张玛莉感受到真爱的交流，盼望透过照片关怀和诉说他们的故事，让世人更欣赏贫困中的富足与尊严！张玛莉愈是经历世界，愈感到「珍惜」和「沟通」的重要：「人与人的关系，地球村的生态万物，给遗忘了的古迹文化，造就伟大的大自然创造，我们若仍不懂珍惜、欣赏和悉心保存，在风雨的不断洗刷和岁月的无情摧毁下，将荡然无存，祇待成追忆！」

 

　　自八九年开始，张玛莉先后在海外、中国大陆及香港举行个人展览，其作品广为私人、博物馆、文化局及大机构所收藏。

 

　　多年来积极从事慈善义务工作的张玛莉为多份报纸杂志撰写专栏文章，并出版多本个人影集、散文和诗集。张玛莉更担任香港新城财经台「玛莉会客室」主持。张玛莉先后获颁香港十大杰出青年、十大爱心之星、十大杰出女性、二十一世纪女性典范以及二零零二年度成功女性大奖等奖项，更于二零零二年成为联合国教科文组织国际造型艺术家协会会员。

 

　　Mary Pandora Cheung is a native of Suzhou.  Her passion in painting emerged at her early age.  She had studied with renowned masters of Chinese painting, Yang Shen Sum and Li Xiong Cai.  She also studied fine art at The University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Business Administration.

 

　　In the late 80s, Mary took up photography.  Through her extensive travels and her voluntary work with international relief organization in developing countries, she had ventures to Africa, India, Bangladesh, Northern Thailand, Myanmar, Romania, Papua New Guinea and the remote mountain regions of China.  During her travels, Mary was touched by the genuine care and love people shared even in the most abominable conditions, she wanted to lend a voice to all these stories by capturing images through her camera, allowing viewers to appreciate a different kind of richness.  The mission of capturing truth, compassion and beauty of the world remained constant in her works.

 

　　The more Mary travels, the more she sees the importance of appreciation—appreciation for human relationships, for all living creatures on earth, for the often-neglected old ruins and cultures, and for the glorious creations of God.

 

　　“If we don’t learn to appreciate, cherish and preserve all that has been given to us, with the passing of time and negligence, all this beauty and wonders would exist only in memory.”

 

　　Starting from 1989, her work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, China and overseas.  A number of her works is now part of private and corporate collections.  Mary is also a host of education-related TV program and Metro Finance Radio Program “Merry Mary”.  Mary had been awarded Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons, Ten Outstanding Women, Ten Most Distinguished Artists Volunteer Recognition, Women of the 21st Century, The Most Successful Women 2002 and Service Recognition Award in 2002.  Mary was entitled a Member of International Association of Art to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.
